Our Courses & Qualifications
Why learn with us
The Australian Compliance Institute was established by compliance professionals for compliance professionals. Similarly, our course content and assessment work has been written for compliance professionals by compliance professionals.
This means that it’s subject matter expert content and is continually improved and reviewed by practising compliance professionals. Our facilitators are also experienced compliance risk and AML professionals who have built, implemented and maintained the compliance management systems they lecture on.
This sets our courses and course content apart. It’s designed to provide the training our members wished they’d had access to when they began their careers and is the knowledge they know their team members need to do their jobs well.
Excellence in the compliance profession is an investment by organisations in delivering their compliance objectives. Without the core knowledge the Australian Compliance Institute passes on to its students, organisations will struggle to achieve the optimum outcomes they seek from their compliance spend.
Employ a professional to lead your compliance and AML work who also has the qualifications with experienced content to back them up.

Benefits of the Australian Compliance Institute Certification
Australian Compliance Institute certification will help expand your career options and give you a competitive edge in the employment marketplace.
It demonstrates commitment to best practices and advances the GRC field by promoting standards of practice.
Australian Compliance Institute certification marks, referencing your designation, can be used on personal stationery, CVs, online profiles and email signatures.
The mark cannot be used by organisations or to suggest an organisation, as an entity, has been accredited.
Other ways to get qualified
If you have been working in compliance and risk for some time and have undertaken training during that time, but not achieved a complete qualification, Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) may be an attractive pathway, to have your knowledge and skills recognised formally.
Contact education@compliance.org.au with any RPL questions.
What is Continuing Professional Development (CPD)?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) aims to ensure that accredited professionals maintain the currency of their skills and knowledge. In an environment of rapidly evolving markets and changing laws and regulations, CPD is essential. The accredited professional must certify that they continually improve their ability to do their job and expand their technical and professional skills through education. CPD encourages continuous learning throughout a professional career.
How many CPD Points must you acquire?
20 CPD Points for Associate, CCRP and CCRP Fellow. All accredited professionals must earn 20 CPD Points in any membership year from 1 July to 30 June or 60 points over three membership years. It is pro-rated for accreditation granted part-way through the financial year. The requirement does not increase for accreditation levels.
What is required to maintain your Australian Compliance Institute accreditation?
In addition to maintaining membership with the Australian Compliance Institute, accredited professionals must also meet their CPD requirements by:
- Maintaining knowledge and skills that are appropriate for their activities and responsibilities and are consistent with the training standards.
- Updating their knowledge and skills, especially in areas with continual change, such as legislation, regulatory policies and standards, and new market practices.
- Developing new knowledge and skills to assist with the ir current role or roles contemplated in the future.
What is the CPD Point Structure?
Activities that develop or enhance skills related to the competencies that underpin the accreditation programs would be considered appropriate CPD. Activities specific to your role can also be regarded as CPD if they are not paid activities.
In some cases, the number of points claimed for an activity is restricted, reflecting the variation in quality and intensity of learning outcomes for different activity types. It also recognises that learning can be self-paced, where time spent on an activity is not necessarily an accurate indicator of content and knowledge gained.
How many CPD Points are gained for various activities?
The activities listed are an example of just some of the activity types. Professionals should consider all CPD opportunities to meet the yearly requirement.
- Under 30 minutes = may not be counted for points.
- 30 minutes = 0.5 points
- 45 minutes = 0.5 points
- 1 hour = 1 point
Any CPD Points accrued over the 20-point requirement may not be carried over to the subsequent membership year. Whilst all the Australian Compliance Institute activities are allocated CPD points, activities outside the Australian Compliance Institute can also be acceptable forms of CPD.
Activity | CPD point eligibility |
Conferences, seminars, lectures, workshops and online webinars | 1 point per hour of attendance, excluding refreshment breaks |
Presentations – research and writing | 1 point per hour for each unpaid presentation |
Presentations – presenting seminars | 1 point per hour to a maximum of 3 points for each unpaid presentation |
The Australian Compliance Institute committee or working party | 1 point per hour of active participation to a maximum of 5 points per year |
Publication | 1 point for each 1000 words of authored material |
Self-Paced Study | 1 point per hour of study |
This year I have accumulated 25 CPD points. Can I carry over the excess 5 points to next year?
Yes. As long as you achieve the 60 CPD points across 3 membership years.
Will you accrue CPD Points while on maternity or sick leave?
No, it is not a requirement to undertake CPD during maternity or extended sick leave until you return to work. CPD is pro-rated from the time of your return to the end of the membership year.
