CEO Update – February 16

Dear Members,

As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, it is clear that compliance professionals are operating in increasingly complex environments that demand sound judgement, practical capability and strong professional support.

Over the coming months, ACI’s focus is firmly on equipping members with applied insights and opportunities to engage with peers, regulators and subject-matter experts. Our events and professional development activities are designed to support informed decision-making, strengthen accountability frameworks, and respond to the real pressures facing compliance teams across Australia.

We are also seeing strong engagement across our education and training programs, reflecting the continued demand for practical, principles-based learning. As organisations place greater emphasis on accountability, governance and risk culture, the ACI’s nationally recognised qualifications and targeted short courses provide a structured pathway to build capability, formalise experience and support career progression.

In the weeks ahead, our attention turns to Financial Crimes Week, taking place from March 16-20 March. This new hybrid format reflects the way our community works; combining the value of in-person connection with the flexibility of virtual delivery. We’re pleased to welcome our first group of confirmed speakers, include Brad Brown (AUSTRAC), Deborah Lockhart (Australian Disputes Centre), Liam Hennessy (Thomson Geer Lawyers) Tim Goodrick (KPMG), Amelia Jamieson (Commonwealth Bank) and Natalie Faulkner (FTI Consulting). More speakers will be announced shortly. Tickets for this event are now available via the ACI Website.

We’re pleased to invite you to participate in the ACI’s AI Skills Readiness Index survey below. The survey examines how AI is used in professional practice, confidence and capability with AI tools, organisational readiness and governance, and the skills needed for the future. The findings will provide an evidence-based view of where the profession stands and where targeted support and advocacy are required. We encourage you to take part, as your input will help shape how the profession navigates AI responsibly and confidently.

Finally, I encourage you to take full advantage of the resources available through the ACI, including our Careers Portal, which continues to support members and non-members navigating career transitions, professional development and long-term planning in a changing compliance landscape.

Thank you for your ongoing engagement with ACI.

Warm regards,
